EPR provided website development, public involvement, traffic engineering and analysis, signal design at three intersections, and stormwater management services for the Emmet Streetscape project.
The project site is located in the eastern portion of the City of Charlottesville, and in the northwest portion of the University of Virginia (UVA). The project improvements will start at the intersection of Emmet Street and University Ave/Ivy Road, and continue north to Arlington Boulevard. This is an important corridor between UVA and commercial shopping areas. The project includes about 3000 linear feet of street with three signalized intersections. The proposed improvements include landscaping with street trees, intersection improvements for better ADA and pedestrian access, three updated signalized intersections, enhanced access to existing transit facilities, bike lanes, and shared use paths. The stormwater will be addressed per the VRRM for redevelopment. This project is required to provide 3.86 lb/yr of TP load reduction. In addition to the VRRM TP Load requirements the site was also evaluated to meet the energy balance quantity requirements. These requirements will be provided within the underground Silva Cells/bioretention area. The runoff will be collected and discharged to the cells via the roadside curb inlets. This project will require 1069 cells and 12 tree pits.
