We’re looking for a Lead Design Engineer & Innovator to join our leadership team and help define the next chapter of EPR from day one.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Experience: 5–10+ years in roadway, pedestrian, or bicycle design, intersection improvements, or innovative intersection projects
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia, or ability to obtain within one year
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D or Bentley MicroStation/ORD (with ability to learn both)
    • Experience producing full construction plan packages
    • Strong understanding of constructability challenges
  • Hands-On Leadership: You enjoy staying engaged in design work while mentoring and leading a talented team
  • People-First Mindset: A genuine interest in teaching, coaching, and growing others
  • Creative Energy: The ability to think beyond standard solutions—and bring a bit of fun and flair to your projects

What You’ll Do

  • Lead EPR’s roadway design function and help expand our technical capacity
  • Mentor and inspire engineers as they grow their skills and confidence
  • Deliver high-quality work through engineering design, technical analysis, QA/QC, and project/task management
  • Collaborate across disciplines, with opportunities to deepen involvement in traffic engineering, planning, and urban design
  • Support marketing efforts and strengthen client relationships through technical excellence and leadership
  • Continue advancing your expertise in roadway geometric design software and emerging tools

Work Environment & Flexibility

  • Hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week in-office in Charlottesville, Richmond, or Northern Virginia
  • Virginia-based location required for collaboration and access to our Charlottesville office
  • Relocation stipend available; hybrid arrangements may be possible
