EPR is on-call to the Central VA MPO to provide transportation planning services for project throughout the
region. Tasks to date include:

• Route 221 Corridor Plan – traffic operational and multimodal assessment and planning exercise for a four mile suburban five lane corridor that spans between Bedford County and the City of Lynchburg. The project was conducted over a 6 month period and included three public meetings and multiple presentations to City Council and the Board of Supervisors. The study culminated in recommendations for geometric improvements, access management, signal timing, and multimodal improvements. ($50,000). Upon completion of this study, two of the intersection improvements identified in the study were selected as candidate projects for the HB-2 funding. EPR provided detailed construction cost estimates in support of the HB-2 process.
• Appomattox Courthouse Road Corridor Plan – visioning and multimodal improvement plan for the corridor that connected the Town of Appomattox with the Historic Courthouse and National Park. The process included three community meetings, renderings of land use and transportation visions and related improvements. The plan culminated in a vision for future growth and corridor typical sections that would serve as a catalyst for economic development while also accommodating future traffic and multimodal aspirations. ($25,000). The project was recently awarded $11,000,000 through the SMARTSCALE funding process.
• Central VA Long Range Transportation Plan update 2040 – EPR managed an 18 month project to update the region’s long range transportation plan. The plan process was structured to identify future needs in the region, and then prioritize the projects per a customized prioritization process identified for this project. The effort included extensive public outreach, presentations to numerous stakeholder groups, and extensive agency coordination. (budget was $200,000).
• Route 811 Corridor Operations and Safety Study. – EPR recently completed a corridor operations study of Route 811 between Turkey Foot Road and Route 221 in Bedford County. The study looked at traffic operations, safety, capacity needs, and multimodal improvements. ($50,000) One of the identified projects, a roundabout, was awarded a SMARTSCALE grant this last cycle.
• Amherst Downtown Walkability and Streetscape Plan – EPR created a plan for downtown Amherst that builds on the recent planning efforts. The plan identified sidewalk, bicycle markings, and streetscape improvements to enhance  downtown and inspire new economic investment. The plan culminated in a prioritized project listing with detailed cost estimates. ($40,000)
• Graves Mill Corridor Plan- Traffic operations and safety study. Recommendations included a roundabout, a DDI interchange, corridor and intersection widening and multimodal improvements. ($65,000)
